Weaver Career Description
Weavers manufacture material with different patterns, colours and textures out of loose threads by using the weaving technique.
What am I going to do in this occupation?
A distinction can be made between hand weavers and weavers working in factories using mechanized equipment.
Before any piece of material can be woven, certain calculations must be made. The thickness of the material is determined by the quantity of yarn used. Weavers must determine the exact quantity of yarn needed to fabricate a specific piece of material.
Hand weavers can use two types of looms namely table looms and floor looms. Floor looms must be used for floor-rugs and any piece of material with a width of more than 80 cm.
