Systems Analyst Career Description

A systems analyst is a person who is responsible for maintaining the network of computers and systems in working condition 24 hours a day. A systems analyst works with the various departments in an office and learns about their needs and requirements. Base on the departments need and requirements they design the network and equipment required for the functioning of the office. They usually suggest the technology solutions to the company they are working for. The job on the surface sounds very straight forward and logical and simple one. However this is not true, the job a systems analyst can be a demanding one, and many times they work with constraint budgets and try to fit in the company’s technology needs into the budget.

What does one need to become a systems analyst?

To become a systems analyst a person needs some specific certifications in computer languages, software and networks. There are courses for becoming Network engineer and companies like Cisco and Microsoft offer them too. A person needs to study and gain practical experience on networks, different kinds of networks, software’s that run the networks, kinds of network equipment and so on. All these are covered in the Network Engineer course and after the person takes an exam and passes hey are certified as a network engineer or a systems analyst. Over a period of working the network engineer gains experience in different kinds of network problems and there fore becomes an expert. At this stage the person can become a systems analyst.

Other career options for a systems analyst

A systems analyst after gaining experience can also become a consultant of a company or on their own. Many people attempt to do the systems analyst course and after doing the exam not many turn out to become systems analyst. People make a different career choice like management positions, or middle management and so on. They start out as network professionals and grow in the company and become something else. This is very common in software companies.

Who should become a systems Analyst?

A person who is interested in the profession needs to be extremely vigilant on the job. A systems analyst should be able to expect the unexpected and work with precision when it comes to network and the problems that can arise. It could be a very interesting job as it involves a lot of analytics and hardware correction. People who are inventive, were fidgety as kids, and experimental should become systems analyst.
