Roofer Career Description
Roofers are specialist building workers using their skills to erect and clad roof structures and install waterproofing, rain-water goods and flashings.
What am I going to do in this occupation?
Roofers have various tasks such as roof construction, rainwater goods and waterproofing.
Roof construction includes, among other things, the setting out and construction of various trusses, the erection of roofs of different shapes and the cladding of roof structures with different materials. Rainwater goods include the development of sheet metal components, the marking, cutting, riveting and soldering of sheet metal and the fabrication and fitting of gutters and
down pipes. To enable roofers to install
waterproofing they have to be thoroughly trained in the identification of waterproofing materials, the measuring up and estimation of quantities, the application of reinforced liquid waterproofing and various other tasks.

Roofers should have good health and physical strength. They must be able to use both their hands with confidence.
