Miner Career Description
Miners and their workers form teams who extract the minerals from an area allocated to them in a specific mine. Miners are specially trained people who manage the labor force allocated to them.
What am I going to do in this occupation?
Miners work underground where they personally keep an eye on the boring of holes in the mineral veins, blasting operations using explosives, safeguarding of the workplace and making inquiries about the misfiring of explosives, overseeing the cleaning of the face and the conveyance of ore to the surface by means of underground trains and hoisting apparatus.
The use of explosives is under the miners' direct control. Miners are responsible for the safety of all persons working in their area of responsibility and also for the efficient use of equipment, material and other resources.
Although miners are trained in using mine machinery and performing difficult mining tasks themselves, they work as supervisors after obtaining the necessary qualifications.
Requirements
What kind of personality do I need? Potential miners must be physically fit, as they are required to obtain a Certificate of Fitness (also called a Red Ticket). Miners require management and leadership skills to manage their workers and maintain good working relationships.
