Meter-readers walk or drive along an assigned route to take readings, which they record in a route book. Meter-readers take notice of the complaints, which the occupants have in connection with the water and electricity bills that have been issued. They give advice on matters such as leakage and also inform the public whom they should contact in connection with sewerage system blockages or when streetlights are not working. Meterreaders also perform administrative tasks, but work outdoors for most of the day.

Requirements

What kind of personality do I need? Meter-readers should enjoy detailed work, work well without supervision and be accurate and observant. They should be able to maintain good interpersonal relationships. Meter-readers should also be physically healthy and fit. Responsibility, precision and patience are other qualities.
