Labourers carry out instructions that they receive from their supervisor. Usually the tasks do not require a specific educational qualification.

The type of work performed by labourers varies greatly and differs from one organisation to another. Their tasks may include:
General or specialized farm work
In specialized farming labourers will be involved in a specific type of farming, for example livestock-farming or crop-farming. General farm work includes tasks such as the feeding of animals, ploughing of farmlands and planting.
Factotum or general handyman under the supervision of a tradesman
All industries employ handymen to assist the tradesmen or other trained people in their work. The working conditions differ from industry to industry. Tasks could include passing on equipment, tending to tools and assisting with building structures.
