Joiners and woodmachinists manufacture all the woodwork that is necessary for comfort as well as for ornamental purposes in a building, such as windows, doors and counters.

What am I going to do in this occupation?

Joiners and woodmachinists spend their time in a workshop where they use different hand tools as well as electrical machine-tools. They design, manufacture and assemble wooden components, for example built-in cupboards according to needs and specification. They are involved in the final finishing of a building as the wooden components are usually the last items to be installed.

Requirements

What kind of personality do I need? Joiners and woodmachinists should have an eye for line and a sympathetic approach to making a "living object" from what is raw material. They need to be methodical, careful and have a steady approach to work and be able to do calculations and work accurately with regard to details and drawings.
