Tier 2 Change of Employment

Tier 2 visa will allow anyone with a sponsor and the required skills to work in the UK. This form of arrangement requires effort from the employer (the sponsor) as well as the employee who wants to work in the UK. The employer has to show that there is a shortage of skills in the company and they have found the candidate they want from outside the country. On the other hand, the employee has to show that he or she has the education, training, experience and skills to be employed. If the employer and the employee would just one requirement, the tier 2 visa for work permit will never be approved

Once approved, the employee can only work for the company for the said position. Even if the number of years is limited – the employee can only ask for five years of employment for the employee. Any movement or changes in the position will require a separate application.

In fact, if the employee plans to transfer to another company, he or she needs to go through the process of tier 2 change of employment application. It’s a separate form of application that needs to be fulfilled, if the employee wants to work for another company.

More About Tier 2 Change of Employment

Tier 2 change of employment is a relatively simple concept compared to tier 2 work permit visa. But if there’s anything you need to know about tier 2 change of employment visa is that it’s a little bit more complicated compared to tier 2 work permit visa. The easy part is that the applicant is already in UK which means processing this type of visa is faster. However, the time frame for approval in this form of tier 2 visa still depends on government processing.

For that reason, change of employment is seen as a relatively difficult task since it will coincide with the work of the employee and with the soon to be former employer. The process should be done this way to ensure that the employee will have a steady source of income while staying in UK.

Reworking the Process

The complication in tier 2 change of employment is from the fact that the process has to be done once more. When the employee wants to change companies, the employer needs to become the new sponsor for the employee. The normal process of evaluating the capacity of the employer with regards to providing the right salary and benefits for the employee will be conducted once more.

The employee on the other hand will again have to go through the normal process of evaluation. Even though the applicant has been deemed fit to be issued with tier 2 work permit; that permit was only issued in relation to the previous company. The new company may have a different offer to the employer which means the conditions will be different. Remember that the large part of the point system is based on the salary that will be offered to you.

The good news about tier 2 change of employment is that can practically renew your length of stay here. Although the government will have the final say on how long you will stay, your new employer’s recommendation will be greatly considered. That means even though you already are staying in the country for nearly five years, you can still be extended for five years more under your new contract.

Chance for Extension

Tier 2 change of employment is a good way to extend your stay in the country. But the benefits of tier 2 change of employment could be more. This goes to show that you are a valued employee to the company or even to the industry. If you’re looking to extend your stay without seeking extension, you can ask for permanent residency status or indefinite leave to remain (ILR). Since you have already proven your worth in the industry, there is a great chance you can be approved.

Tier 2 change of employment is a form of visa that could be proven to be a little difficult since you have to go through the same process. But the long term benefit is great since you will prove your worth to the industry which will increase your chances for a permanently stay in the UK.
